US Citizenship Test Audio: civics, reading, writing and N-400 interview practice, with Spanish, French and Arabic translations

What it is

The naturalisation civics test is spoken aloud, not written down. This app lets you study it the same way an officer will ask it — by ear, at your own pace, with nothing to read and nothing to type.

Your device reads each question aloud, waits while you answer out loud, then reads the accepted answer and a short explanation of why it matters. A commute, a walk, a shift in the kitchen or the school run becomes study time you would otherwise have lost.

Which test this app covers

USCIS selects your civics test by the date you filed Form N-400, not by your interview date. This app prepares you for the 2025 civics test:

Filed on or after 20 October 2025	2025 civics test — 128 questions. Up to 20 asked; the officer stops at 12 correct answers.
65 or older, 20 years a permanent resident	The 20 starred questions. Up to 10 asked, 6 correct to pass. The app has a 65/20 mode.

If you filed before 20 October 2025 you take the older 2008 test, which this app no longer includes. Check your N-400 receipt notice if you are unsure, and confirm current requirements at uscis.gov before your appointment.

Study mode. Hear the question, answer out loud, reveal the accepted answers and the explanation, then mark yourself.
Hands-free mode. Question, pause, answer, explanation, for driving, walking or cooking. The pause is adjustable from 2 to 15 seconds, and the screen stays on while it plays so the reading is never cut off.
Mock test. Real conditions: the officer stops as soon as the result is decided, and so does this. Includes the 65/20 short test.
Mock interview. Twenty N-400 questions in interview order, starting with the oath.
Reading and writing tests. Read one of up to three sentences aloud; write one of up to three dictated sentences.
Weak spots. Drills only the questions you keep missing.
Spaced repetition. Questions you miss come back the next session and lead it; new material arrives at a steady daily pace.

Languages

English always comes first on every card, because the interview is in English, and questions are always spoken in English. Underneath, you choose the translation — Spanish, French or Arabic — with one tap on the card, even when the app itself is in English. The interface, explanations and translations are complete in all four languages, with full right-to-left support for Arabic.

Answers that change

Some answers depend on who currently holds an office, and some depend on the state you live in — your senators, your representative, your governor, your state capital. The app marks these and tells you to confirm the current answer from the official source before your appointment. Names of national officeholders are updated with each release; state-specific answers are yours to fill in and are saved on your device.

Works completely offline

Every question, answer, explanation and translation is stored on your device when you install. Nothing is downloaded and nothing you do is sent anywhere. Put the phone in airplane mode and the app works exactly the same. No account, no sign-up, no email address, no password.

Free, with ads

The app is free and paid for by advertising, served by Google AdMob and, through AdMob mediation, a small set of partner ad networks listed in the privacy policy. A banner appears on some screens and a full-screen ad occasionally between study sessions. Ads never appear while a question is being read, never when the app opens, and never in the middle of a session. In the United States you can turn on Do not sell or share my personal information in the app's settings.
